epic ski day and first race

Long time, no post. We had the most EPIC ski day of all time March 2nd and then springtime hit just in time for the first race.

First, let me tell you about the ski day. Backside of Pebble, freak snowstorm, 2 feet of fluff, bluebird day and COLD. We skied Sherwood forest and it was steep and deep. Got the McChute on the second run and the 3rd run was even better. Here is the conversation: Kris: "Let's do one more." Bob: "Do we have time?" Kris: "Where do we have to be?" So, we did 3 big runs and got back to the parking lot around 5:30.

Then, the weather turned warm and it was bike time again. Got my new SRM amateur installed on my TT bike and rode it a few times before the first race of the year for me--the Jason Broom TT in Boise. Not sure if the SRM is calibrated correctly, but I had a good ride, good enough to take 1st in the women's field with a 24:35 over 10 miles. 24.4 mph and the SRM read 239 average watts. For March, I'll take it. But I will do the calibration procedure on the SRM to make sure.

Bike racing season is here, but I'm still hoping for one more good snowstorm!

No Trainer Today

No trainer today. It's been an intense week with VO2 max intervals. Skied No-SnowBasin on Wednesday for demo days and did intervals Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Superbowl Sunday, I called Joe Lehman and we hiked over to the back. Guess what we skiied? Of course, Superbowl. It was pretty crusty, but here is a picture of January 21--Jason M. and me in the POWDER! We were loving it! I hope we get some more snow soon, I'm really not ready for bike season yet.
Looks like I figured this camera thing out. I'll try to post a video of Landry skiing--I'm such a proud parent.
Think Snow.....

TEST post

Here is a test post. Apparently, I can post pictures to my blogs. Of amazing things. Maybe just not skiing.

No pictures YET

So, yesterday was another great day skiing the backside of Pebble. Bob, Jason, and I found some great powder! You'll have to take my word for it, because I can't get any of my pictures from my new camera to print on this blog. Either I'm a computer idiot or maybe the pics are just TOO good. So, it was an epic day and the only way it would have been better is if Sam could have come. Seriously, we spoke of you often, Sam, wishing you were there putting the hurt on us on the uptrack and poaching our lines. No, wait a minute...did we say that?

Well, lots of skiing and a little trainer time. Does anyone want to know what my CTL is right now? Didn't think so.

I'll try to take some poorer pictures and see if they will work.

We got snow!!

Well, my wish was granted and Pebble got a bunch of snow. We also got wind, but there was some GREAT turns to be had on Sunday. Check out the shots of Jason Montgomery and I ripping up the backcountry. (sorry, I didn't get any shots of us getting dumped on our heads in the' tron) Jason may be a cat 2 bike rider but he's definitely cat 1/pro in the skiing department. We hiked until I couldn't lift my poles up but it was definitely one of the best days of the year. Forcast is for 10 days of sunshine, so we certainly lucked out that this happened on a Sunday.

I lost all the shots of night skiing with Karen and Landry, so Karen is destined (doomed?) to another skiing excursion. It was pretty fun, though and not too cold.

we need some snow

First post!!

Here in SE Idaho it is sunny and cold and no precip for over a week. We need some snow! Pebble is making do with not enough and the backside is pretty crusty and wind-hammered. Looks like riding the trainer in the garage will have to do for the weekend. Unless it warms up considerably or we get some snow. Tonight is movie night at the McRoberts, so I'm going to take the girl's night skiing before that. 5-7 pm and then we'll be cold enough to go home and have cocoa, beers, and popcorn. Karen Appleby has agreed to leave Sam HOME ALONE for a couple of hours and have some fun with her new GRAVITY SPORT!!! I'll let you know how the evening goes....and take some pics.
